For Malawian nationals and residents wishing to travel from Dubai to Lilongwe. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic the Malawian airspace is closed but its still possible to travel to Malawi. The only available option at the moment is flying to Tanzania then finish up your journey by road from Dar es salaam to Lilongwe.
Firstly you need to visit the Malawi consulate in Business bay, Dubai. Contact Mr Andrew Chifukwa the Consulate general will issue you a letter to present in Tanzania to avoid being quarantined. His contact details are +971561782163 From there you can book a flight from Dubai to Dar es salaam i would recommend Flydubai a oneway ticket, it costs around AED942 including seat selection, 40kg bag and 7kg hand carry laugauage. Flights are available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.
Upon arrival in Dar es salaam you get a cab from the Airport to Ubungo bus terminal. From there you board Taqwa bus from Dar es salaam to Lilongwe which takes about 18 to 24 hours. Upon arrival at Songwe border post Malawi side a Covid-19 test will be done if negative you will proceed to Lilongwe with the bus if positive you will be taken for quarantine.
Make sure you arrive at the airport atleast 4 hours before departure. You need to buy a personal hygiene kit which includes Face Masks, Hand Sanitizer 60 ML, Vinyl Gloves, Wet Referenser Tissues, etc. Or you can buy at the airport which is an expensive option. Then you good to go. Stay Safe and Stay Healthy we are all responsible, take care of yourself and loved ones.

Travel well. Take care of your belongings don’t travel with huge sums of money keep some in your ATM card. In Malawi they only exchange US dollars from the 2013 series and make sure you have clean notes.
