Attractions in Kampala
The Tombs of Buganda Kings at Kasubi constitute a site embracing almost 30 ha of hillside within Kampala district. Most of the site is agricultural, farmed by traditional methods. At its core on the hilltop is the former palace of the Kabakas of Buganda, built in 1882 and converted into the royal burial ground in 1884. Four royal tombs now lie within the Muzibu Azaala Mpanga, the main building, which is circular and surmounted by a dome. It is a major example of an architectural achievement in organic materials, principally wood, thatch, reed, wattle and daub. The site’s main significance lies, however, in its intangible values of belief, spirituality, continuity and identity.


The Uganda Museum is found in Kampala, displaying and exhibiting ethnological, natural-historical and traditional life collections of Uganda’s cultural heritage. It is a home to over 3,000 volumes of historical maps, periodicals and photographs. You will also find various archaeological artifacts, as well as ethnological and historical exhibitions that celebrate Ugandan’s cultural heritage. It is a vivid reminder of the country’s colourful past which makes it a site worth visiting

Uganda parliament building Open to the public, a visit to parliament is an interesting way to spend an hour or two. You can either tour the building or see the government in action – during sitting weeks. You’ll need to bring an identification card and be decently dressed. In the main lobby look out for the huge wooden cultural map of Uganda featuring the country’s flora and fauna. Ensure you book your visit in advance through the office of the clerk of parliament.

Saint Mary’s Catholic Cathedral Rubaga is just 3km outside f the bustling Kampala city centre, the saint Mary’s cathedral commonly known as the Rubaga cathedral is the oldest Roman Catholic diocese in Uganda. Its one of the many places of worship in Kampala in particular with great architectural beauty that draws a number of tourists each year. The magnificent ancient cathedral is an important site to the religious, educational and health lives of many of the Kampala people. The most common mode of transportation in kampala is the boda-boda, which is a type of motorcycle taxi.
