Blantyre’s four main shopping centres

A shopping centre is a collection of independent retail stores, services, and a parking area conceived, constructed, and maintained by a management firm as a unit. Shopping centres may also contain restaurants, banks, theatres, professional offices, service stations, and other establishments.

Chichiri shopping centre

It was Malawi’s first modern shopping when it open in 2007. Its main anchor tenants are game stores, shoprite, airtel, national bank, Pep, etc. Its under the management of Eris properties. Its perhaps the main shopping centre in Blantyre due to the massive promotions by shoprite and game stores, kids friendly facilities and a large food court area.

Clock tower mall

Located along Chelika road, opposite mwaiwathu hospital. Just a few meters from the clock tower in the city centre. Its anchor tenants are Chipiku stores, kips, Beijing trading, k99, Turkish palace, etc.

Mall of Africa

Partially opened a huge section of the shopping centre is in the final construction stages. Its anchor tenant is chipiku plus. Located along chipembere highway.

The Ginnery

The Ginnery is perhaps the newest shopping centre in Blantyre. Its anchor tenant is Sana mega store, Beijing trading, etc. Its also located along chipembere highway.
