Wondering how and where to start and the cost to budget, no worries am here to help you. The distance from Blantyre, Malawi to Gaborone, Botswana is 1670km and takes approximately two days to travel. Its unfortunate there is no direct bus service so you will need to use two buses either through Lusaka, Zambia or Harare, Zimbabwe. For the sake of time lets travel via Harare its the fastest and easiest way. You will need to sleep over in Harare for the night at a near by guesthouse or inside the Roadport bus terminals.

Blantyre to Harare
It takes an estimated eight hours to travel. Its costs USD40 At the moment there is only Trip trans and 3 stars coaches. Both buses departure from wenela bus depot in Blantyre at 06:30am. Arrival point in Harare, Zimbabwe is Roadport bus terminal. The journey from Blantyre to Harare passes through Tete, Mozambique.

Harare to Gaborone
City bus coaches offer daily service from Harare to Gaborone. Tickets cost about USD50 and the journey takes an estimated sixteen hours. The total distance is 1068 kilometers. Departure point in Harare is Roadport bus terminals early morning at 06:00 and the arrival point in Gaborone is Near Super Save Next to Thusa Filling Station, Mogoditshane. Please note that City bus is not the only operator. There is PCJ motorways, Zikhale tours, etc


Passport Control
Your passport should be valid for atleast six months before expiration. Your passport will be stamped six times at the following border posts
- Mwanza (Malawi) & Zobue (Mozambique)
- Cuchamano (Mozambique) & Nyamapanda (Zimbabwe)
- Plumtree (Zimbabwe & Botswana)
